WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's tennis team split its pair of matches today, sweeping Thiel to open conference play before falling to Ohio Northern, 7-2, to close out the day at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center on Saturday, Sept. 15. Â
With the 1-1 day, the Presidents begin the season with a 3-1 overall record. The victory over the Tomcats gives W&J a 1-0 start in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. Ohio Northern won both matches today to improve to 4-0 on the year, while Thiel lost both tilts and is now 0-4.Â
The Red & Black return to the court on Tuesday, Sept. 18, when W&J battles California (Pa.) at 5 p.m. at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center.Â
