Presidents fall to Penn State Behrend in non-conference meet



ERIE, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College swimming and diving teams dropped non-conference decisions to host Penn State Behrend on Saturday afternoon. 

The W&J men's team lost by a 100-62 score while the President women fell by a 118-61 margin. 

Leading the way for the men's team was senior Zach Lauer (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin), who competed in four events in the meet. Lauer finished second in the 50 Free (23.47) and second in the 100 Butterfly (57.82).

Lauer also teamed up with senior Jeremy Glasner (Boyertown, Pa. / Boyertown), freshman Dean Kralic (Beaver Falls, Pa. / Riverside) and freshman Nick Belofsky (Aurora, Ohio / Aurora) to finish as the runner-up in the 200 Medley Relay. The quartet put together a total time of 1:44.65. In the 200 Free Relay, W&J finished with a time of 1:40.44, to claim the top spot. Lauer was joined by senior William Preston (Salem, N.H. / Bradford Christian Academy), Glasner and Belofsky in the event. 

Andrew Ivory finished as the runner-up in the 100 Breaststroke, with a time of 1:11.62. 

On the women's side, freshman Kimber Randolph (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield) led the way with a first place effort and two second place finishes. Randolph finished first in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:07.38. Randolph then added runner-up performances in the 100 Backstroke (1:06.77) and 200 Backstroke (2:29.03). 

Fellow freshman Kiera MacWhinnie (South Portland, Maine / Waynflete School) recorded three second place finishes. MacWhinnie posted those finishes in the 50 Free (28.30), the 200 Free (2:24.42) and the 100 Butterfly (1:15.22). 

Senior diver Kaitlyn Pawcio (Johnstown, Pa. / Westmont Hilltop) opened the meet with nine team points as she recorded a score of 180.80. Freshman diver Jazmin Uhler (Murrieta, Calif. / Chaparral) registered 13 points over the course of her afternoon. 

W&J travels to Hiram College for a non-conference tri-meet with the host Terriers and Franciscan University on Saturday, Jan. 19. Start time is slated for 1 p.m.
