GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College volleyball team suffered a 3-2 loss on the road Saturday afternoon at Grove City College.
After dropping the first set by a 25-19 score, the Presidents bounced back to claim the second set by a 25-22 score and then took the third set by a 28-26 score. However, the Wolverines secured a 25-20 win in the fourth to force a decisive fifth set. Grove City took an early lead en route to a 15-10 fifth set win to earn the victory.
Senior right side
Morgan Jacques (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Science & Technology Academy) led the Presidents offensively with 12 kills and a .478 hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter
Haley Nelson (Warren, Pa./Warren) registered nine kills, while freshman
Claire Sauerland (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area) contributed eight kills.
Sophomore
Ashley Kovel (Everett, Pa./Everett) racked up a career-high nine total blocks, which matches the most by a PAC player this season. Senior libero
Makenzie Coughlin (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) recorded a match-best 32 digs to lead the back line. Senior setter
Mallory O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) chipped in 20 assists and 15 digs.
