Men’s Water Polo Competes At Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's water polo team competed in three matches over the weekend against NCAA Division I and II competition at Bucknell University.
 
Date: Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019
Where: Lewisburg, Pa.
Opponent: Salem
Result: L 21-8
 
How it Happened: Salem scored all eight goals in the first quarter and carried a 19-2 advantage into the fourth period. W&J posted a game-high six goals in the fourth quarter to fall 21-8.
 
Top Performers: Will Kitsch (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) led the way with three goals and two assists on the day. Andrew Edwards (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) scored twice as well.
 
The Rest: Tyler Francis (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), Ryan Bannon (Bloomfield, Colo./Bloomfield) and Anthony Ames (Canyon County, Calif./Canyon) each added one tally. Goalkeeper Nick Spehar (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) grabbed one steal and collected a pair of saves.

Result: L 12-5
 
How it Happened: La Salle used a 3-0 second quarter to lead 8-2 at halftime and held on to win in Saturday's nightcap.  
 
Top Performers: Elijah Muzzi (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) score twice, once in the first quarter and once in the third to lead the Presidents.
 
The Rest: Kitsch, Robert Niino (Madera, Calif./Madera) and Ian Geister (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) each added one goal.

Where: Lewisburg, Pa.
Opponent: St. Francis Brooklyn
Result: L 25-5
 
How it Happened: An eight-goal first quarter powered St. Francis Brooklyn to an early lead that it would never relinquish.
 
Top Performers: Kitsch scored three times for the Presidents and Geister had two tallies as well.
 
 
Men's water polo hosts four matches at Henry Natatorium over the weekend, starting with Penn State Behrend on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m.
 
The Presidents host Monmoutn, Gannon and Mercyhurt in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference games on Saturday and Sunday.
