Box Score 1 WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's tennis team opened its 2019-20 campaign with a 7-2 home defeat to Mt. Aloysius on Saturday.
The Presidents start the season 0-1 while the Mounties, whose conference competes in the fall, advance to 4-2.
James Gunn (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) combined with
Sam Bellini (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) for a victory at No. 2 doubles 8-6.
Nate Wang (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) snagged the lone win on the singles side with a comeback victory at No. 1 singles 0-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9).
The Presidents also began a match with in-conference opponent Waynesburg, but the game was due to lightning in the area and will likely not be finished. The Presidents will take on the Jackets again in the spring in PAC action.
Today was the only scheduled men's tennis match for fall 2019. The Presidents begin their spring slate on Feb. 29 against Penn State Altoona.
