WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's basketball team will host the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes in Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals game Tuesday evening at the Salvitti Family Gymnasium.
Start time between the Presidents and Golden Tornadoes is slated for 7 p.m. The W&J Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has asked that all W&J fans WEAR BLACK in support of the Presidents.
Tuesday's game will mark the first PAC Tournament home game for the W&J men since Feb. 22, 2011.
Top-seeded Grove City (17-8, 13-3 PAC) will host eighth-seeded Thiel College (6-17, 5-11 PAC) while second-seeded Chatham University (16-9, 11-5 PAC) will play host to seventh-seeded Waynesburg University (6-19, 6-10 PAC). Third-seeded Westminster College (15-10, 10-6 PAC) will host sixth-seeded Saint Vincent College (12-13, 7-9 PAC) while fourth-seeded Washington & Jefferson College (14-11, 9-7 PAC) will host fifth-seeded Geneva College (12-13, 8-8 PAC).
In Thursday's semifinal round, the tournament's lowest remaining seed will travel to the highest remaining seed with the two remaining middle seeds meeting at the higher of the two. Both semifinal matchups are slated to tip off 7 p.m.
Saturday's title game will be hosted by the higher seed remaining following Thursday's semifinals, with the start time scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Admission to all PAC Championship Tournament games is $5 for adults and $2 for students, with students at PAC host institutions admitted for free with valid identification.
The winner of the PAC's Championship Tournament will receive the league's automatic qualifying bid to this year's Division III Championship Tournament. Forty-three conferences have been granted automatic qualification to this year's 64-team championship. The selected Division III Championship teams as well as the first and second round site selections will be announced Monday, March 2 at 12:30 p.m. (EST) on ncaa.com. First and second round games are scheduled for Friday-Saturday, March 6-7.

Geneva at W&J – PAC Tournament Quarterfinals Preview
W&J in the PAC Tournament: Tuesday's game will mark the first PAC Tournament home game for the Presidents since Feb. 22, 2011, when they hosted fifth seed Thomas More. The Saints secured a narrow 58-57 win over the Red and Black.
The Presidents have captured nine PAC titles, which is the second most in league history. However, the Presidents have not won a league championship since capturing four straight from 1991-95.
W&J enters Tuesday night trying to snap a five-game losing streak in the PAC Tournament.
The last PAC Tournament win for W&J came in 2013, when the Presidents scored the final 14 points of the game to earn a 70-64 road victory over then two-time defending champion Bethany. The Presidents also won on the road in the quarterfinals in 2012, as the Red and Black stunned No. 2 seed Thiel, 91-89.
The last home PAC Tournament victory for W&J came in the 2009 Quarterfinals when they defeated Grove City in the 4-5 game by a 74-68 score.
Geneva in the PAC Tournament:
The GT's have not won a PAC title since becoming eligible as a full-time league member in 2011-12.
Geneva, the No. 7 seed last year, fell at No. 2 Grove City in the PAC Quarterfinals. The Wolverines tallied an 81-75 victory over the GT's.
The last tournament win for Geneva came when they pulled off a road upset of Saint Vincent in 2018. The GT's erased a 17-point first half deficit to beat the Bearcats by an 80-78 score in overtime.
Geneva pulled off one of the biggest upsets in PAC Tournament history in 2014 when they stunned No. 1 Bethany by a 61-59 score. The GT's were the tournament's No. 9 seed after starting the season 0-15 in PAC play. Geneva won the season finale against rival Westminster before beating the Titans again two days later in the play-in game.
W&J vs Geneva in the PAC Tournament: This is the first head-to-head meeting between the Presidents and the Golden Tornadoes in the PAC Tournament. The GT's became full-time members of the league in 2011-12.

12/7/2019 – W&J 73, Geneva 58 (Washington, Pa.)
The Presidents led by just one point (33-32) at halftime before outscoring the GT's 40-26 over the final 20 minutes to earn the PAC win.
Zach Queen was one of four Presidents in double figures, as the junior led with 15 points. Noah Damazo was the leading scorer for Geneva with 17 points.
1/29/2020 – Geneva 63, W&J 62 (Beaver Falls, Pa.)
Lyle Tipton drained a jumper with 0.2 seconds left to lift Geneva to a 63-62 win over W&J. The GT's led by as many as seven points in the second half before a layup by
Okikiola Agbale gave W&J a 62-61 lead with 2:19 left. Neither team scored for the next 2:18 of play before Tipton's winner. Tipton led all scorers with 17 points. Damazo added 15 points and 11 boards.
Primo Zini paced W&J with 10 points.
