WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's basketball team hosts Chatham University in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Quarterfinals game Wednesday night at Salvitti Family Gymnasium.
The game will tip off at 7 p.m. The W&J Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has asked that all W&J fans WEAR WHITE in support of the Presidents.
Wednesday night's game will mark the first PAC Tournament home game for the W&J women since the 2014-15 season. The Presidents beat Westminster 62-52 in the PAC Quarterfinals in said contest on Feb. 25, 2015.
The Presidents earned the No. 2 seed in the previous four PAC Tournaments, which meant they automatically advanced into the PAC Semifinals and the site of the PAC Final Four.
The 2020 PAC Tournament got underway Monday night with No. 5 Chatham University and No. 6 Waynesburg University collecting first round wins.
Chatham (15-10) picked up a 69-63 victory over No. 8 Geneva College (3-21) at the Athletics and Fitness Center (AFC) in Pittsburgh while Waynesburg (8-18) claimed a 79-65 win over No. 7 Bethany College (6-20) at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse in Waynesburg, Pa.
In Wednesday's quarterfinal round, Waynesburg will travel to face No. 3 seed Westminster College (19-6) while Chatham will play at No. 4 seed W&J (16-9).
With the league's double-bye format, No. 1 seed Saint Vincent College (19-6) and No. 2 seed Grove City College (23-2) automatically advance to the championship tournament's semifinal round, which will be hosted by Saint Vincent at the Robert S. Carey Student Center on Friday, Feb. 28. Grove City will face off against the Westminster-Waynesburg winner Friday at 5:30 p.m., followed by Saint Vincent hosting the W&J-Chatham winner in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.
The start time of Saturday's title game is slated for 5 p.m.
The winner of the PAC's Championship Tournament will receive the league's automatic qualifying bid to this year's Division III Championship Tournament. Forty-three conferences have been granted automatic qualification to this year's 64-team championship. The selected Division III Championship teams as well as the first and second round site selections will be announced Monday, March 2 at 2:30 p.m. (EST) on ncaa.com. First and second round games are scheduled for Friday-Saturday, March 6-7.

Chatham at W&J – PAC Tournament Quarterfinals Preview
W&J in the PAC Tournament: Wednesday night's game will mark the first PAC Tournament home game for the W&J women since the 2014-15 season. The Presidents beat Westminster 62-52 in the PAC Quarterfinals in said contest on Feb. 25, 2015.
The Presidents earned the No. 2 seed in the previous four PAC Tournaments, which meant they automatically advanced into the semifinals and the site of the PAC Final Four.
The Presidents have captured five PAC titles, which is the third most in league history, trailing Thomas More (11) and Bethany (6). W&J captured its last PAC title in 2005-06.
W&J has advanced into the PAC Tournament Semifinals in every year since 2012-13. The Presidents have finished as the league's runner-up in five of those seven seasons.
Chatham in the PAC Tournament: The Cougars are looking to advance into the PAC Semifinals for the first time since the 2009-10 season. Chatham upset No. 3 seed Grove City for their first-ever PAC Tournament win. The Cougars then fell to the top-seeded Thomas More in the PAC Semis. Chatham lost in the quarters at Waynesburg in 15-16, at Saint Vincent in 16-17 and at home to Thiel in 18-19.
W&J vs. Chatham in the PAC Tournament:This is the first head-to-head meeting in postseason play between the Presidents and Cougars. Chatham joined the PAC in 2007.
2019-20 Head-To-Head Matchups:
Dec. 18, 2019 – W&J 76, Chatham 67
The Presidents outscored the Cougars by 11 in the second half to secure a 76-67 victory. Five Presidents finished in double figures, as the Red and Black were led by 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four blocks by
Alie Seto. Gilbert (14), Johnston (14), Koeck (12) and McDaniel (11 points and 10 rebounds) helped a balanced attack. Emily Ondo and Kaitlyn Fertig combined for 58 of the 67 Chatham points. Ondo scored 35 on 13-of-32 shooting. Both players drained 5-of-10 three-point attempts.
Feb. 1, 2020 – W&J 66, Chatham 53
Alie Seto posted a 14-point and 21-rebound effort to help the Presidents earn a 66-53 road victory over the Cougars.
Lauren Gilbert led all scorers with 20 points. Emily Ondo finished with 17 while Riley D'Angelo added 12 for Chatham. The game turned in the third quarter when W&J limited Chatham to just six points in the frame.
