ANNVILLE, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's lacrosse team fell 13-3 at Lebanon Valley in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
LVC scored the game's first five goals before
Alex Strain (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) collected a feed from
Mark Mandak (Enola, Pa./Trinity) for W&J's first goal with 1:59 to play in the first quarter. The Dutchmen scored twice in the final 31 seconds of the period to carry a 7-1 advantage into the second quarter.
Despite firing eight shots in the second, W&J was held off the scoreboard as Lebanon Valley extended its lead to 10-1 at halftime.
Both teams tacked on one goal in the third quarter with
Benjamin Ward (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) finding the back of the net with 4:53 to play in the period.
LVC added two goals in the fourth before Riley Oliverio (Carlisle, Pa./Trinity) scored with 24 seconds left in regulation as the Presidents were downed 13-3.
Goalkeeper
Noah Cohen (Hewlett, N.Y. / George W. Hewlett) made 17 stops between the pipes.
Freshman defender
James Deiuliis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) snagged a season-best five ground balls on the afternoon. Junior faceoff man
Nicholas Grosch (Sarasota, Fla./Butler) matched a season high six ground balls and won seven faceoffs.
The Presidents travel to Marymount (Va.) on Saturday afternoon for a 1:00 p.m. matchup.
