COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's swimming & diving teams earned Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), the organization announced Tuesday.
Under the guidance of third year head coach
Matt Rochna, the women's swimming & diving team recorded a 3.56 team grade-point average for the fall semester.
The 3.56 team GPA was the best among all men's and women's swimming & diving programs in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
"Our women's swimming & diving team's hard-work, dedication, and drive in the classroom during the fall semester was recognized with CSCAA honors," Rochna said. "They are coming off one of our programs highest women's team GPAs last spring. For them to post a 3.56 cumulative GPA when the roster size has more than doubled is very impressive and our coaching staff is beyond happy for them."
Amidst the turbulence of the COVID pandemic, collegiate swimmers and divers showed impressive academic resilience during a global pandemic upending much of their academic and athletic schedules. More than 450 institutions were named to the CSCAA's Scholar All-America team for grades posted for the Fall 2020 semester.
The CSCAA recognizes teams with the Scholar All-America Award for achieving a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
