GREENSBURG, Pa. -- The second-seeded Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision to top-seeded Franciscan University of Steubenville in the Championship match of the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament indoors at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
W&J concludes its fall with an 8-3 overall record. Franciscan improves to 12-2 overall.
Franciscan claimed all three doubles matches to take a commanding 3-0 advantage. First-year
Nidhi Pulicherla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) and sophomore
Libby Conlon (Renfrew, Pa./Knoch) played through an 8-4 at third doubles. The Barons sealed the match with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.
Bella Goldman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) won her first set at the No. 3 singles spot before the match was ended when the Barons clinched the match with their fifth victory.
Pulicherla and senior
Maya Krishnasamy (Ventura, Calif./Ventura) claimed spots on the 2021 PAC Women's Tennis All-Tournament Team.
W&J was appearing in the PAC Championship match for a third straight season. The contest was a rematch of the 2020-21 title match, which was won 5-4 by Franciscan on April 24. The Presidents won the conference crown back in 2019.
