Mitchell's triple-double, well-rounded team effort helps W&J race past Bethany in PAC win

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Kyran Mitchell (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) finished with 12 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and eight steals to record his first collegiate triple-double in a 103-56 win over visiting Bethany College Tuesday evening at Salvitti Family Gymnasium.

The win improves W&J to 3-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference play and 7-2 overall. The loss drops Bethany to 1-2 in conference play and 1-6 overall. The Presidents surpassed 100 points for the fifth time in 2021-22 and recorded its sixth straight win over the Bison in the process. 

The near quadruple-double for Mitchell came in just 22 minutes of work. The triple-double was the second of the season by a PAC player and eighth overall in NCAA Division III. 

Six Presidents recorded double figures in points Tuesday evening. Isaiah Langston (Coraopolis, Pa./Cornell) led the way with 16 points during an effecient eight-of-11 shooting night from the field. Langston added four rebounds.
 

J.R. Mazza (Bridgeport, W.Va./University) finished with 14 points, which included four made three-pointers. Kaden DiVito (Coraopolis, Pa./Cornell) finished with a career-high 11 points. He drained five-of-eight from the floor. 

Beckett Connelly (Beaver,Pa./Beaver) finished with 11 points and a career-high eight rebounds. Nick Gearhart (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) tossed in 11 markers as well. 

W&J controlled the game from the outset and led by double figures for a majority of the 40 minutes of action. The Presidents recorded a solid shooting performance as they put in 53 percent of its field goal attempts, which included 26 makes on 41 attempts in the first half (63.4 percent). 



The Red & Black were able to limit the Bison offensively as the visitors converted 31.3 percent from the field. Bethany made just three-of-20 from three-point range, and committed 26 turnovers in the loss. W&J held a decisive 56-34 margin in rebounding and a 66-28 advantage in points in the paint. 

Travis Zimmerman led Bethany with a game-high 17 points while adding six rebounds. 

W&J returns to action on December 20 when they travel to Cresson, Pa. for a non-PAC game against Mount Aloysius at 3 p.m.
