NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team opened its season with an 8-1 loss at Westminster on Sunday afternoon.
 
The lone victory for the Presidents came at No. 2 doubles with 
Bella Goldman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) and 
Lisha Chadda (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern) picking up an 8-7 victory (7-2 tiebreaker).
 
Julia Schaffer (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) at No. 5 singles and Chadda at No. 6 singles battled to 6-4, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-3 defeats respectively.
 
The Presidents return to action Thursday against Bethany.
