WASHINGTON, Pa. -- With the change in Gov. Wolf's order on the size of outdoor gatherings, starting April 1, the Washington & Jefferson College department of athletics is pleased to announce a plan for welcoming W&J parent spectators at all outdoor venues this spring.
The College's primary priority remains the safety of our student-athletes, campus community, and our neighbors in the City of Washington. Washington & Jefferson College will continue to adhere to all federal, state, county and city policies, including mandatory masks at all times in W&J stadiums.
We expect our student-athletes and our parents will familiarize themselves with the following guidelines. This will help ensure that games can be enjoyed by everyone in attendance without additional concern for health and safety. While we cannot fully eliminate any COVID risk, these guidelines are listed to minimize risk of transmission and have been vetted by our Clinical Advisory Panel and consulting physician at Washington Health Systems.
PRE-GAME
- At all outdoor sport venues, each student-athlete on the active roster will be provided two, non-transferrable season tickets for home events for parents
- Parent spectators must possess proof of tickets for each game
- Parent spectators must sit in marked areas in designated seating areas of each facility (see stadium-specific policies below)
- No visiting team spectators will be allowed at any events, per Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) policy
- Entrance gates will open 60 minutes before game time at all venues.
- All parent spectators must fill out the W&J guest registration form for each game they are attending on the day of the game.
DURING THE GAME
- Parent season tickets will be available on site at games during April and can be obtained on site from a game administrator or the team's head coach at the entrance of the athletic venue
- No food or drink is permitted in any athletic venue
- No re-entry once the game has begun. For sports with doubleheaders, fans may return to their cars during the period in between games. During inclement weather, fans may return to their cars to provide necessary cover.
- For games April 1-3, W&J athletic venue attendance will be capped at 25% maximum capacity. Per state of Pennsylvania regulations, maximum occupancy is permitted only if spectators are able to comply with the 6-foot physical distancing requirement. W&J athletic venue attendance will be capped at 50% maximum capacity starting Sunday, April 4. These numbers align with Gov. Wolf's guidelines. Rules concerning spectator capacity may change at any time due to federal, state or College policy.
- Only ticketed parents whose names have been provided by the student-athletes will be allowed at all events, with no exceptions.
- No pets will be allowed at athletic events within the athletic venue
POSTGAME
- Parent spectators are not allowed to make any contact with participants or coaches before, during, or after the event. Spectators are asked to leave the venue immediately following the conclusion of the event.
- Parent spectators are not permitted to provide team picnic style meals outside of the facility after the game. A plan for family-provided grab and go postgame meals can be discussed with the head coach for that respective sport.
