NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College volleyball team wrapped up its 2021 spring season with a 3-0 loss to top-seeded Westminster College in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals on Tuesday evening.
The Titans earned the victory with set wins of 25-10, 25-20 and 25-17.Â
Claire Sauerland (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area) and
Lizzie Carmichael (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) paced W&J with seven kills apiece.
Samantha Sonnet (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) added six successful attacks.Â
Alexis Tomassini (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) distributed 26 assists and added 11 digs. Defensively,
Katie Conner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) led the way with a team-high 17 digs in her final match with the Red and Black. Conner was one of five Presidents to record at least 11 digs. Carmichael added three total blocks.Â
W&J ends its season with an overall record of 7-6. Westminster moves on to the PAC Championship match with a record of 9-1. The Titans will host third-seeded Grove City in the title match on Thursday evening.Â
