WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Hiram College Wednesday evening at Salvitti Family Gymnasium.
The Terriers took the match with set scores of 25-10-25-8 and 25-13.
W&J struggled to find its rhythm offensively, as the home team committed 22 hitting errors in the season opener.
Lizzie Carmichael (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) recorded three kills and three total blocks. Sophia Sacripointe (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) and
Mattie Cherry (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone) recorded nine and seven digs, respectively.
W&J returns to action this weekend with four matches at the Marietta College Tournament. The Presidents face Kenyon and Marietta on Friday, Sept. 3 before taking on Franklin and Capital on Saturday, Sept. 4.
