WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's tennis team remained perfect in Presidents' Athletic Conference play with a 9-0 sweep over visiting Saint Vincent College Thursday at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center.
The sweep was the fourth straight by W&J in conference play. The Presidents previously swept Waynesburg, Geneva and Thiel in league action.
W&J claimed victory in all three doubles matches.
Maya Krishnasamy (Ventura, Calif./Ventura) and
Nidhi Pulicherla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) won by a 8-2 score at the No. 1 doubles position.
Bella Goldman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) and
Libby Conlon (Renfrew, Pa./Knoch) secured a 8-4 decision at No. 2 doubles while
Jaelyn Kennedy (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) and
Victoria Wilson (Butler, Pa./North Catholic) won by an 8-2 score at third doubles.
W&J had its way in the singles matches. Krishnasamy (6-0, 6-1) and Goldman (6-0, 6-0) breezed to victories at No. 1 and No. 3 singles spots. Conlon (6-0, 6-1), Kennedy (6-2, 6-2) and Wilson (6-0, 6-1) did the same at the four through six singles spots.
Pulicherla completed the sweep for W&J with a hard-fought third-set tiebreaker victory at No. 2 singles. Pulicherla overcame a slow start to win 6-2 in the second set and by a 10-7 margin in the third.
W&J (4-0 PAC, 4-1 overall) hosts Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday, Sept. 25 for a non-conference tilt.
