WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson Collge men's tennis team picked up an 7-2 win over Pitt-Greensburg Saturday afternoon at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center. This win marks W&J's men's tennis first win for the fall season. 

W&J took a 2-1 lead over Pitt-Greensburg after doubles play. The brother tandem of James Gunn (Beaver Falls, Pa./ Riverside) and William Gunn (Beaver Falls, Pa./ Riverside) picked up an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles while Nolan Rehrig (Jim Thorpe, Pa./ Jim Thorpe Area) and Joseph Panahandeh (Murrysville, Pa./ Greensburg Central Catholic) secured an 8-3 win at third doubles.

The Presidents claimed wins in five of six singles matches to roll to victory. James Gunn won 6-4, 7-5 at second singles while Kike Figueras (Seville, Spain/ Colegio Portaceli) registered an 7-5, 6-3 at third singles. William Gunn was victorious by 6-2, 6-0 at fourth singles and Tyee McMaster (Waynesburg, Pa./ Waynesburg Central) eased his way to an 6-0, 7-3 victory at fifth singles. Joey Ioli (Pittsburghm Pa./ Upper Saint Clair) picked up the final win of the afternoon for the Presidents, breezing by 6-0, 6-0 at number six singles.

W&J will travel to Erie, Pa on Monday, Oct. 11 to take on Penn State Behrend. The game is scheduled to start at 3:30 PM.
