WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team downed visiting Pitt-Greensburg by a 7-2 score at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon. The victory was the fifth straight overall for W&J, who improves to 5-1 this season. 

Maya Krishnasamy (Ventura, Calif./Ventura) and Nidhi Pulicherla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) raced to an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles. The freshman tandem of Emma Humphrey (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and Gloria Johnson (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) won by an identical score at No. 3 doubles. 

Krishnasamy breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at first singles. Pulicherla worked for a 6-0, 6-4 win at the second singles spot. Bella Goldman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) coasted to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles while Libby Conlon (Renfrew, Pa./Knoch) was victorious by a 6-0, 6-1 score at No. 4 singles. Victoria Wilson (Butler, Pa./North Catholic) earned a straight set victory as well, scoring a 6-0, 6-3 victory at the number-six singles position. 

W&J travels to Francsican on Saturday, Oct. 2 in a rematch of last spring's Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament Championship match.
