WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's swimming and diving team earned a pair of victories during Saturday's home tri-meet. W&J bested Franciscan by a final score of 156-107 and Hiram by a margin of 177-89.
The 200-yard medley relay of
Kimber Randolph (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield),
Sydney Neumann (Long Beach, Calif./Millikan),
Amanda Graves (Irwin, Pa./Penn Trafford), and
Molly Nielsen (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) put together another strong performance, as they won by more than five seconds, with a time of 1:58.86.
Graves, Randolph, and Nielsen all finished with two individual first place finishes on the women's side. Graves won the 200-yard butterfly (2:30.95) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.12). Randolph won her final two home swims, taking first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.89) and the top spot in the 200-yard individual medley (2:28.27). Nielsen won both the 50-yard freestyle (26.67) and 100-yard freestyle (57.71).
Neumann finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke, timing in at 1:15.16 before taking second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:47.68.
Nielsen and
Isabella Manzari (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) swept the 50-yard freestyle before going into the first diving break. Manzari recorded a time of 27.49 good for second place.
Taylor Weyrich (McMurray, Pa./Seton LaSalle) had another impressive showing, finishing with a total score of 232.60 to grab first place in the 1-Meter diving.
Alexis Griner (Valrico, Fla./Bloomingdale) finished second with a final score of 172.75. Weyrich went on to record a final tally of 279.95 in the 3-Meter diving.
Mekkiye Ergun (Chicago, Ill. Lake View) finished as W&J's top finisher in both of her events of the afternoon. She placed second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:19.22) and third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:39.00).
The women concluded the afternoon by a 20-second win in the 400-yard freestyle relay from the quartet of Nielsen, Neumann, Manzari, and Graves with the final time of 3:55.90.
W&J will wrap up their Presidents' Athletic Conference dual meets next Saturday as they travel to Grove City, Pa. The PAC matchup between the Presidents and Wolverines is scheduled for a 1 P.M. start time.
