WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Hunter Hardin scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 56th minute as visiting Grove City College earned a 2-1 victory over the Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team in the regular season finale for both teams Wednesday evening at Alexandre Stadium.
The victory allowed Grove City to finish the regular season slate at a perfect 10-0 in conference play. The Wolverines, who are 12-5 overall, enter the PAC Tournament as the top seed.
The Wolverines scored in the seventh minute of play as Aidan Eck tallied an unassisted score.
W&J would garner a rebuttal later in the half as
Nolan Agostoni (Greensburg, Pa. / Latrobe) collected a loose ball and rocketed home the tying score. Agostoni's fourth goal of the season came in the 31st minute of play. The score remained tied into the second half.
Grove City made Hardin's goal stand up, as W&J was held scoreless over the final 34-plus minutes of play. In the 82nd minute, W&J garnered its best chance to tie the score, as Agostoni broke free again. However, this time Jesse Greyshock was able to deny Agostoni.
Charles Boldosser (Westminster, Md. / South Carroll) started and made four saves in 90 minutes. Agostoni led the team in shots and shots on goal with two each.
The Presidents finished the PAC slate with 11 points in seventh place. W&J wraps up the season at 6-8-2 (3-5-2 PAC). The Presidents finished with a 4-1-1 record at home.
