DAVENPORT, Fla. -- The Washington & Jefferson College baseball team dropped a 12-2 decision to Wisconsin-La Crosse Sunday in a non-conference game at Northeast Regional Park Field #3 as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

The loss drops W&J to 6-5 overall while La Crosse improves to 3-3 in 2022.

Wisconsin La Crosse jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first before adding three more runs in the second. W&J put together its best offensive threat in the bottom of the third inning. Jacob LaDuca (Clarence, N.Y. / Canisius) drew a leadoff walk to start the rally. Peter Kalinski (Washington, D.C. / Saint John's College) followed with a single down the right field line to move LaDuca to third and put runners on the corners. Evan Sante (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) followed with an RBI single through the left side to plate LaDuca.

Roman Samson (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Prep) followed with a single to load the bases. Nolan Lutz (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) made the score 5-2 with an RBI groundout to score Kalinski. W&J had a chance to get closer but the next two batters were retired with runners in scoring position.

The score remained 5-2 in favor of Wisconsin- La Crosse until the seventh inning. The Eagles added three runs in the seventh and four more in the ninth to finish off the victory.
