ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A number of Washington & Jefferson College track & field athletes have qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championships. The Presidents competed in day one of the two-day event Friday. The event is being hosted by Nazareth College in Rochester, New York.
W&J competed in the women's pentathlon and women's triple jump and the men's distance medley relay on Friday. The Presidents finished with first day of competition with all season or personal best marks.
Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) bested her school record in the pentathlon with her score of 2575. Additionally, Hartner jumped to a new personal record in the long jump with her leap of 5.07 meters. That leap brings Hartner into the fifth spot in W&J indoor history.
Savannah Sevacko (Crafton, Pa./Carlyton) finished in the top 10 in the women's triple jump. Sevacko jumped to a new personal-record of 10.99 meters. Additionally, this was the first time that Sevacko has 36' in her career.
The quartet of
Aden Dressler (Evans City, Pa./Butler),
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area),
Clay Yeager (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata), and
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) ran to a new season-best time in the distance medley relay, clocking in a time of 10:45.89. That relay time moves them into third in program history.
Competition continues with day two on Saturday.
Faith Remich (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell) will compete in the 800 Meters while
Declan Fricko (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley) takes part in the High Jump and
Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) competes in the Long Jump. Action gets underway at 10 a.m.
