Track & Field competes at Baldwin Wallace Sparky Adams Invitational

BEREA, Ohio -- The Washington & Jefferson Track & Field teams competed Saturday at the 52nd annual Sparky Adams Invitational, which was hosted by Baldwin Wallace in Ohio. The event was the last tuneup for the Presidents before next week's Presidents' Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship meet. 

Women

Faith Remich (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell) eclipsed her own school-record with a time of 2:18.08 in the 800 Meters. That time gave her a third place finish and ranks second best on the PAC performance list. 

Savannah Sevacko (Crafton, Pa./Carlynton) finished as the runner-up in the Triple Jump (10.89 meters - season best) and eighth in the Long Jump (4.91 meters - season best). 

Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) ran to a new personal-best time in the 1500 to rank fourth best in the PAC this outdoor season. Carr clocked in with a time of 4:56.39 to rank third all-time on the W&J outdoor list. 

Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.44. That time ranks as the fastest in the PAC this outdoor season. 

Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) logged a sixth place finish in the 400 Meters. Trusler raced to a time of 1:00.78. She still ranks tops in the PAC in the event. 

Anna Stroup (Port Royal, Pa. / Juniata) and Ali Petrisek (Ellsworth, Pa. / Bentworth) finished third and sixth respectively in the 100-meter hurdles. Stroup clocked in with a personal-best time of 16.61. She ran 16.32 in prelims which ranks sixth all-time in W&J history. Petrisek logged a season-best time of 18.04 in the event. 

W&J placed three in the top six in the Javelin. Gianna Platt (Pittsburgh, PA / OLSH) finished third with a season-best of 31.66. Maddie Simpson (Washington, Pa./Chartiers Houston) was fourth at 31.21 and Kiersten Walther (Washington, Pa./Trinity) posted a season-best heave of 29.48 to place sixth. 

The W&J 4x4 Relay team placed second with a time of 4:12.06. That time ranks as the best by a PAC squad this season. The W&J quartet was Hartner, Remich, Taylor Johnson (Lower Burrell, Pa. / Burrell) and Trusler. 

Men

Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) and Declan Fricko (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley) found success in the High Jump. Fricko finished fourth with a leap of 1.86 meters. Sciarro finished with a mark of 1.81 meters. Fricko ranks first in the PAC while Sciarro is now third. 

Additionally, Sciarro was third in the Long Jump with a mark of 6.49 meters. 

Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) placed third in the 400-meter hurdles. His mark of 56.38 ranks second in the PAC and is a personal best. Baughman was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a mark of 15.48, which moves him into the top spot in the PAC and is a new personal best. 

Baughman also anchored W&J's 4x4 relay team that posted a season-best time of 3:32.04. He was joined by Aden Dressler (Evans City, Pa. / Butler), Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) and Brock Pennington (North East, Pa. / North East). 

Pennington and Dressler both ran PRs in the 1500 at 4:09.76 and 4:11.78, respectively. Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa./Beth Center) logged a time of 4:08.35 in the event. 

Paul raced to a fourth place finish in the 800 Meters. He clocked in at 1:57.36. 

The two-day PAC Championships get underway on Thursday, April 28 at the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park in West Virginia.
