WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson volleyball had its three-match winning streak snapped Saturday afternoon in a 3-1 loss to visiting Saint Vincent College in a non-conference match at Salvitti Family Gymnasium.
Saint Vincent 3, W&J 1 (23-25, 25-20, 17-25, 23-25)
The two teams split the opening two sets, as the visitors edged W&J by a 25-23 score in the first set of the day. The Presidents then responded with a 25-20 win over the Bearcats in the second set. Saint Vincent used strong hitting in the third and fourth sets to claim the match. The Bearcats combined for 33 kills and just eight errors over the final two sets.
After putting together strong performances in wins Tuesday at Franciscan and Thursday at home against Chatham, the Presidents struggled to replicate the same energy and emotion in Saturday's loss. W&J was unable to find consistency, as they hit just .172 in the loss to the Bearcats.

Faith Fetsko (South Park, Pa./South Park) led all players with 15 kills. The first-year Presidents also added 14 digs in the loss. Senior outside hitter

Lizzie Carmichael (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) joined Fetsko with double figure kills. Sauerland tallied 11 while Carmicheal racked up 10 kills with no errors and hit .526 in the match.

Piper McFarland (West Mifflin, Pa./Cornerstone Prep) and Fetsko finished with 14 apiece. Freshman middle hitter
