WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson women's tennis team was edged by a narrow 5-4 margin in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match Monday evening against Grove City College. The teams split the six singles matches but the Wolverines claimed two of the three doubles matches to earn the win. 

W&J's lone doubles win came at the top spot as Nidhi Pulicherla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) and Bella Goldman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) claimed a decisive 8-2 victory. 

The two accounted for two of the Presidents' three victories in singles play. Pulicherla earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Lexi Chappel at the No. 1 spot. Goldman earned her second straight victory, tallying a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Sunshine Tarpey of the Wolverines at the number two position. 

Jaelyn Kennedy (Pottstown, Pa. / Pottsgrove) secured a hard-fought 6-4, 6-3 victory over Logan Fuss at the fourth singles spot. 

All six singles matches were decided in straight sets. W&J hosts Waynesburg University for a conference match at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30.
