WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to visiting Allegheny College Tuesday evening in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center.
The Presidents wrapped up the regular season with a 4-4 record in league play and 5-5 overall. Allegheny remains unbeaten in league play at 7-0.
Nidhi Pulicherla (Chandler, Ariz. Hamilton) picked up W&J's lone victory. Pulicherla won in straight sets at first singles with scores of 6-4 and 6-3.
LIsha Chadda (Grand Rapids, Mich. Forest Hills Eastern) took her match at fifth singles into a third-set tiebreak. Chadda claimed the first set by a 7-5 score before dropping the second set by a narrow 6-4 margin. Chadda was outlasted by a 10-7 score in the third set tiebreaker.
W&J now awaits its opponent for the opening round of PAC Tournament play. That match is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 17.
