WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team was able to battle back to earn a 1-1 tie in the second half of their Wednesday night game against Westminster College.
The draw settles the Presidents to 2-2-4 in PAC play and 3-6-5 overall. The tie moves the Titans into 0-7-1 in conference play and 3-8-4 overall.
Both teams were neck and neck holding the other to a scoreless first half of play. W&J held the offensive edge over Westminster leading them in corner kicks 2-1 as well as shots 7-6.
The Titans would find the scoring column first in the 51st minute of the game. W&J would answer soon thereafter on a penalty kick goal by Ethan Bowser (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) in the 68th minute. This was the fourth PK goal Bowser has registered this season.
Both teams would put up multiple shots following the tying tally to no avail, leaving both teams unable to net the go-ahead goal and secure the victory.
Junior goalkeeper Charles Boldosser (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) registered six saves over the full 90 minutes to pick up the draw in goal.
Freshman Justin Parker Wyatt (Coatesville, Pa. / Unionville) led the Presidents in shots registering four on the evening.
The Presidents out-shot Westminster by a 15-13 margin in the match. The Titans held a 7-6 margin in shots on goal as well as a 5-3 margin in corner kicks in the match.
W&J returns to action when it homes Bethany College for Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 21. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
