GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's soccer team dropped a 7-0 decision to host Grove City in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at College Field Wednesday evening.
The loss ends the season for the Presidents. W&J entered the match needing a win to clinch a spot in the six-team PAC Tournament which begins this Saturday. The Presidents conclude the season with a 4-7-5 overall record and a 3-3-4 mark in conference play.
Grove City improves to 7-5-5 overall and 6-3-1 in the PAC. The Wolverines earned the No. 3 seed in the PAC Tournament with the win.
The Wolverines scored a pair of first half goals to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Grove City poured it on in the second half with five more goals. Two of the goals in the match were penalty kick goals by Grove City.
W&J was out-shot by a 19-5 margin including an 11-0 advantage in shots on goal. Grove City had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Ethan Bowser (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth-Forward) and
Justin Parker Wyatt (Coatesville, Pa./Unionville) both produced a pair of shots Wednesday.
