LOCK HAVEN, PA. -- Freshman Dominic Flitcraft (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) paced the Red & Black with a 25:24.7 to place 23rd in the 211-runner field at the 2023 NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Region Cross Country Championships. The event was held at Lock Haven University.
Flitcraft was the second fastest freshman in the race and finished with All-Region honors. Flitcraft awaits the possibility to earn a spot to compete in the upcoming NCAA Championships. Those selections will be revealed on Sunday. The NCAA Championship event will be held at Big Spring at Newville, Pa on Nov. 18.
Juniors, Brock Pennington (North East, Pa. / North East) and Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Montour) finished second and third for the Presidents, placing 37th in 25:48.9 and 43rd in 26:02.0, respectively.
Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa. / Beth-Center) finished out his junior season fourth for the Red & Black, placing 109th in 27:14.2.
Daniel Deal (Butler, Pa. / Knoch) placed 118th in 27:27.2. Finishing in the same breath, Shaun Walker (Washington, Pa. / Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter) recorded a personal best with a time of 27:28.7 to place 121st.
Rounding out the seven-man fleet for the Presidents, Lorenzo Zeni (Monongahela, Pa. / Ringgold) crossed the finish line in 29:07.1 and placed 163rd to close out his sophomore season.
W&J finished 10th in the team standings. That finish represents a tie with the 2018 team for the highest regionals in school history.
