W&J races past Waynesburg for 10th straight win


WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Aisa Uhler (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) and Emily Heck (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) combined to account for nine goals as the Washington & Jefferson College women's lacrosse team rolled to a 21-1 victory over visiting Waynesburg University in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at Alexandre Stadium Friday evening.

The win was the 10th straight for the Presidents, who improve to 11-3 overall and 7-0 in the PAC. The loss drops the Yellow Jackets to 3-11 overall and 0-7 in the conference. 

W&J led 12-1 after the first quarter before taking a 15-1 advantage into halftime. W&J then scored all six goals in the second half en route to the 20-goal victory. 

Uhler finished with a team-high eight points (5 goals, 3 assists) and Heck accounted four six points (4 goals, 2 assists). Sarah Labovitz (Great Falls, Va./The Bullis School) filled the stat sheet with five points (3 goals, 2 assists) and eight draw controls. 

Anna Kloehn (Canton, Ohio/Jackson) registered a hat trick and an assist for four points. Haley Lawyer (Glenside, Pa. / Archbishop Wood) added a four-point night with two goals and two assists. 

In addition, Mya Bolinda (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills), Brynne Stewart (Painesville, Ohio / Andrews Osborne Academy), Caleigh Bogats (Oakdale, Pa./Chartiers Valley) and Sam Casile (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) all reached the scoring column. 

Defensively, Ella Phillips (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) finished with a team high in ground balls (4). Phillips, Casile and Bogats recorded four caused turnovers apiece in the victory. 

Kaitlyn Brown (Charlotte Hall, Md./La Plata) earned the win in goal, as she worked the first half. Gianna Baker (Carlisle, Pa./Trinity) made three saves over the final 30 minutes of action in goal. 

The Presidents held advantages in shots (28-9), draw controls (16-8) and ground balls (24-8). 

W&J hosts Allegheny for a matchup of PAC unbeatens at Alexandre Stadium on Wednesday, April 26. Start time is slated for 7 p.m.
