MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Following his three touchdown performance Saturday, Washington & Jefferson College tight end
Zach Cernuto (Scottdale, Pa./Southmoreland) has earned national recognition on the D3football.com Team of the Week.
Cernuto sparked the Presidents in a 48-3 rout of the Westminster Titans in Saturday's home opener for the Red and Black. Cernuto accounted for the first three touchdowns of the game for W&J. Cernuto rushed for a pair of one-yard touchdowns and also hauled in a five-yard touchdown reception during the first half of W&J's victory over the rival Titans.
This marks the second time in three weeks that W&J has had a student-athlete earn a spot on the 2023 D3football.com Team of the Week.
Dawson Dietz (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) was recognized after W&J's week two victory at Bethany.
W&J hosts Thiel College for a Presidents' Athletic Conference game on Saturday, Sept. 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. at Cameron Stadium. The game will air on both KDKA+ and WJPA.
The Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, is D3football.com's weekly honor roll, in its 25th season of recognizing the top performance at each position from the previous week. Players are nominated by Athletic Communication professionals from their institutions.
