CARLISLE, Pa. – The duo of
Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) and
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) both logged strong efforts Saturday morning at the Dickinson College Long-Short Invitational.
Anderson raced to a fifth place finish with a time of 22:21.3 in the 159-runner field. Anderson's time ranked as the best by a Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional runner. Anderson has finished among the top five runners in each of her first three meets of the season.
Carr clocked in with a time of 23:25.1 to finish in 23rd place Saturday.
Genevieve Ruth (Brecksville, Ohio / Brecksville Broadview Heights) was next for W&J. The freshman turned in a personal-best time of 24:42.4 to finish 68th.
Grace Reid-Vensel (Washington, Pa. / Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter) timed in at 25:37.3, which establishes a new personal best time for the freshman.
Sophomore
Maria Gilles (North Ridgeville, Ohio / Lake Ridge Academy) posted a time of 25:46 in her season debut to round out the top five runners for W&J.
The Presidents finished 10th in the team standings. W&J was the lone Presidents' Athletic Conference team competing at the event.
W&J returns to competition at the Thiel College Tomcat Rumble on Friday, Sept. 29. The race will serve as a preview for the PAC Championships.
