BETHANY, W. Va. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's basketball fell by a 105-75 score on the road to host Bethany College in a Presidents Athletic Conference match Saturday in West Virginia.
Bethany's offense started the game with six-straight points before W&J responded with six-straight to tie the game 6-6. Bethany's offense continued its hot start, securing a 56-27 lead at the half.
W&J cut Bethany's advantage to 15 points late in the second half but unfortunately couldn't complete the comeback.
W&J's offense was led by a double-double effort from
Alex Acosta (Acworth, Ga./North Cobb). The sophomore scored 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. The double-double was the ninth oof the season for Acosta.
Nick Gearhart (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) and
Nathan Plotner (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg South) also finished in double figures for the Presidents, scoring 15 and 13 points, respectively. The 13 points is a collegiate-high for the freshman Plotner.
With the loss, W&J falls to 4-10 in the PAC.
The Presidents return to action Wednesday, January 31, at 7:30 p.m. at Franciscan.
