BERKELEY, Calif. - The Washington & Jefferson College men's water polo fell to Austin College in the final day of the 2024 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championships, dropping the final contest 11-3.
W&J kept things close, only down by one at the closing of the first quarter. A goal from Aidan Miller (Grove City, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) set the score at 2-1 as the first eight minutes came to a close.
Once again, Miller was the only President to score in the second quarter as the 'Roos pulled ahead 5-2.
Following the half, the Red & Black only allowed two goals against but couldn't net a goal of their own giving Austin a 7-2 advantage heading into the final quarter.
With 5:48 left to go in the game Brody Souder (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) netted the final goal for the Presidents as they were unable to find the offensive push they needed to surpass the 'Roos.
Miller led the team with two goals and Elliot Parker (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) logged the only assist of the game for the Presidents.
