TRAFFORD, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College men's basketball freshman Michael Plasko (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) has been named Presidents' Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week, announced by the conference Monday (Dec. 23).
 
Plasko spearheaded the Presidents' offense in a two-win week, as the freshman guard averaged 19.5 points per game. In W&J's win over No. 19 Carnegie Mellon, Plasko led the team in scoring with 20 points while adding two assists. He shot 8-of-14 from the field and 4-of-6 from the charity stripe in the Presidents' first victory over a ranked opponent since 2008-09.
 
In a win over Capital, Plasko dropped 19 points on 7-for-10 shooting and added one steal in the win.
 
Men's hoops will enjoy the rest of the holiday season before returning to action on Saturday (Jan. 4) to face Allegheny in their first showing of 2025. Tipoff I scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start.
