Men’s Lacrosse suffers road defeat at Mount Union


ALLIANCE, Ohio – The visiting Washington & Jefferson College men's lacrosse team dropped a 29-5 road verdict to the University of Mount Union in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Kehres Stadium in Alliance, Ohio.
 
The Purple Raiders led 9-2 after the opening quarter and 18-2 at halftime. Mount Union outscored W&J 9-2 in the third quarter to extend the lead to 27-4. The hosts scored two of the three goals during a lower scoring fourth quarter. 
 
Aiden Herman (West End, N.C. / Pinecrest) and Paul Shook (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity) recorded multi-goal efforts in the loss for the Presidents. Zach Mey (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) tallied a goal and two assists. 
 
Sean Berardino (Millersville, Md. / Archbishop Spalding) finished with a team-high six ground balls. Ronin Keane (Medford, Mass. / Arlington Catholic) finished with five ground balls and 12 face-off wins. Colton Powers (Chesterfield, Va. / Matoaca) started in goal and suffered the loss. 
 
W&J hosts Juniata for a non-conference tilt on Tuesday, March 5. The game will serve as the home opener for the Presidents, who played the first three games of the season on the road. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
