Chambers, Cherry and Dryburgh earn Academic All-District Basketball from CSC

GREENWOOD, Ind. -- A trio of Washington & Jefferson College basketball student-athletes earned 2023-24 Academic All-District® Basketball honors from the College Sports Communicators. Josh Chambers (Hanover, Md./Indian Creek), Adalynn Cherry (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) and Meghan Dryburgh (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) obtained the recognition from the organization.

The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's and women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Chambers has compiled a 3.751 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in Computing & Information Studies (Data Science Track) and minoring Business Administration, African American Studies. Chambers averaged 4.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game this past season. Chambers had 42 assists and 40 steals during his first season as a starter. Chambers was named Washington Health System Male Student-Athlete of the Month back in November. This is the first Academic All-District honor for Chambers.

Cherry holds a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA while majoring in Economics and Spanish with Minors in Business Administration and Computing & Information Studies. Cherry ranked second in the PAC in assist/turnover ratio and fifth in assists (3.5 per game). In addition, the junior guard averaged 8.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. Cherry earned All-PAC Second Team honors following the season. This is the second-straight year that Cherry earned Academic All-District honors from the CSC.

Dryburgh has put together a cumulative 3.6 GPA while majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology. The junior guard led the Presidents in scoring, rebounding and steals while ranking second on the squad in assists. The 5-11 guard/forward continued to show a tremendous all-around game, finishing in the top 12 in the PAC in four different categories. Dryburgh averaged a double-double by scoring 11.4 points per game, 12th in the PAC, and grabbing 11.0 rebounds per game, second in the conference. She also ranked sixth in assists with 3.4 per game and eighth in steals with 2.1. Dryburgh recorded 10 double-double efforts. Dryburgh earned both the PAC Player of the Year and All-PAC First Team for a second-straight season. This marks the second time that Dryburgh has been listed on the Academic All-District Team by the CSC.

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 17, 2024.
