W&J runs past Saint Vincent to extend winning streak


WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Aisa Uhler (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) scored a career-high six goals and Emily Heck (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) recorded a career-high six assists to help the Washington & Jefferson College women's lacrosse team roll to a 19-3 win over visiting Saint Vincent College Tuesday evening at Alexandre Stadium.

The win is the ninth-straight for the Presidents. W&J is 9-6 overall and 8-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. The loss drops Saint Vincent to 2-11 overall and 1-7 in the conference. 

Uhler opened the scoring with back-to-back goals. Caleigh Bogats (Oakdale, Pa./Chartiers Valley) followed with an unassisted scored to push the lead to 3-0 less than three minutes into the game. Saint Vincent responded with back-to-back goals to cut the W&J lead to 3-2 at the 9:23 mark of the first quarter. 

W&J responded with six-straight goals to finish out the first quarter. Ella Holland (Healdsburg, Calif./Cardinal Newman) started the run with an unassisted score with 8:41 left in the quarter. Bogats followed with a score off a pass from Sofia Jenkins (Hughesville, Md./The Calverton School). A few minutes later, Anna Kloehn (Canton, Ohio/Jackson) scored off a pass from Heck.

Brynne Stewart (Painesville, Ohio Andrews/Osborne Academy) played a role in the next two goals, assisting a Heck score before recording an unassisted goal of her own. Jenkins closed out the first quarter scoring, using a pass from Heck to make it 9-2 at the 11-second mark. 

The Red and Black scored all five goals during the second quarter. Uhler made it a hat trick with a score off a pass from Heck early in the second. Mya Bolinda (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills), Jenkins, Haley Lawyer (Glenside, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Bogats all found the back of the net in succession before halftime. 

Saint Vincent scored its third and final goal just 2:49 into the third quarter. Uhler scored her 49th and 50th goals of the season to round out the third quarter scoring. W&J led 16-3 going to the fourth. 

Jenkins, Uhler and Kloehn all scored in the final quarter of play. 

Heck finished as the team leader with a seven-point night (one goal, six assists) while chipping in four caused turnovers, two ground balls and two draw controls. Uhler had six points all off of her goals.

Jenkins added three goals, three assists and four draw controls to her stat sheet. Bolinda, the reigning PAC Midfielder of the Week, added four more ground balls and five draw controls to her totals. Jenkins, Ella Phillips (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and Emma Herrington (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) added three ground balls apiece. 

Kaitlyn Brown (Charlotte Hall, Md./La Plata) earned the victory in goal. 

W&J welcomes Grove City to Alexandre Stadium for Senior Day on Saturday, April 27. Start time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
