WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Senior midfielder
Aiden Herman (West End, N.C./Pinecrest) scored a career-high six goals to help the Washington & Jefferson men's lacrosse team roll to a 17-9 victory over visiting Bethany College in Presidents' Athletic Conference action Wednesday night.
Herman was backed by teammates
Paul Shook (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity) and
Carter Watts (Gilbertsville, Pa. / Boyertown), who both recorded hat tricks with three goals apiece during the win.
The Presidents began the game with an offensive flurry. The Red and Black opened the game with four-straight goals over the first seven-plus minutes. Shook scored the middle two goals during the opening run. The goals, which were scored 20 seconds apart, were during a run that helped the Bison trim the W&J lead to 5-3 after 15 minutes of play.
Following a Bison goal just 15 seconds into the second quarter, the Presidents seized control of the match. Herman and Watts both scored twice during a 6-1 W&J run over the final 10:58 of the quarter.
Braden Petrarco (North Huntingdon, Pa. / Norwin) scored with just before the second quarter horn sounded to extend the W&J lead to 11-5 at halftime.
The Red and Black continued to control the game in the second half. Herman scored twice in the third as W&J outpaced Bethany by a 5-1 margin in the third quarter. Herman added one final scoring tally early in the fourth.
Herman managed a game-high seven points in the victory. Shook finished with three goals and three assists in a six-point effort.
