WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team logged their first loss of the 2024 season against Division II Davis & Elkins, 7-0.
During the doubles matches, the Presidents were shutout in their No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches in straight sets, 6-0.
Jaelyn Kennedy (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) and
Emma Humphrey (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) managed to snag a game at No. 3 doubles but ultimately lost their match, 6-1.
In singles, W&J was swept in all matches with minimal push back. The Presidents most competitive match was at No. 2 singles as sophomore
Claire Loomis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) took two games in her loss 6-2, 6-0.
Mackenzie Gumto (Renfrew, Pa./Knoch High School) recorded a productive showing at No. 6 singles after being downed 6-1, 6-1.
The Presidents will look to bounce back and regain their momentum Saturday (Sept. 14) as they open Presidents' Athletic Conference play against Saint Vincent. The match is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.
