Box Score GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team registered their second-straight victory in the Presidents' Athletic Conference in a sweep of Thiel, 7-0.
The Presidents move to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in PAC play mirroring last season's start to conference play.
W&J took the team doubles point after winning two matches and being granted a forfeit victory at No. 3 doubles. At No. 1 doubles, the duo of
Nidhi Pulicherla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) and
Claire Loomis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) picked up their fifth win of the season together with a shutout 6-0 victory.
Paisley Cole (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna High School) and
Mackenzie Gumto (Renfrew, Pa./Knoch High School) also logged a win at No. 2 doubles which featured a 6-0 sweep.
In singles, the Presidents were able to seal the contest with wins at each slot including an additional forfeit win at No. 6 singles. Pulicherla registered a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles followed by a straight set victory at No. 2 singles from Loomis 6-0, 6-0. Cole, Gumto and
Bailey Phillips (Washington, Pa./McGuffey) each played to a 6-0, 6-1 outcome at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively.
W&J will square off at Westminster next Monday (Sept. 23). The match is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
