BEREA, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson College Women's Tennis recorded their second-straight victory since opening their season with a win.
W&J won the doubles team point thanks to wins by
Nidhi Pulicherla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) and
Claire Loomis at No. 1 doubles and
Paisley Cole (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna High School) and
Pooja Potluri (West Fargo, N.D./West Fargo) at No. 2 doubles. Pulicherla and Loomis logged a 6-2 victory while Cole and Potluri had similar success with a 6-1 win.
At No. 1 singles, Pulicherla logged a competitive victory over Colleen Andersen of Baldwin Wallace 4-6, 6-3, 4-0. Loomis logged a win in dominant fashion at No. 2 singles, taking the bout 6-1, 6-0.
Emma Humphrey (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) took her match to a superbreaker and ultimately won 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 at No. 5 singles. Freshman
Mackenzie Gumto (Renfrew, Pa./Knoch High School) worked her way to a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles to close out the singles wins for the Presidents.
The Presidents will return home to host Davis & Elkins on Tuesday (Sept. 10). First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
