Men’s Soccer Edged in PAC Quarterfinals by Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa – The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team (9-8-2, 5-5-1) was edged 2-1 in double overtime by the No. 3 seeded Allegheny Gators (9-7-5, 6-3-2) in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Quarterfinals.

The Presidents got the start they were looking for as junior captain Jimmy Gogol (Westminster, Md./Westminster) scored his seventh goal of the season in the 13th minute. The W&J defensive line limited the Gators' chances to take the lead into the halftime interval. At the break, the Gators led 6-5 on shots and 4-0 on corner kicks.

The W&J backline continued to hold strong at the start of the second. Allegheny started to flip the script and eventually got an equalizer in the 73rd minute. This scoreline stood and the game headed into a golden goal overtime with the 1-1 stalemate.

The game needed the second of two ten-minute periods to be decided. Allegheny hit the game winner in the 104th minute to move on to the PAC Semifinals.

Junior Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) got the playoff start, making eight saves throughout the course of the match.

W&J concluded the 2025 campaign reaching a plethora of milestones. Head Coach Ian McDonald surpassed 300 career wins with the team, one of only 15 active Division III coaches to do so. Junior captain Jimmy Gogol (Westminster, Md./Westminster) joined the record books and is currently tied for ninth all-time with 18 career goals.  Additionally, senior captain Ethan Bowser (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) finished with 11 career assists.
