BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College football team (7-2, 7-0 PAC) pushed out to an early lead and rolled to a 49-7 victory over Geneva College (5-4, 5-2 PAC) in Presidents' Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon at Reeves Field.

The seventh-straight victory helped the Presidents secure at least a share of the Presidents' Athletic Conference title and the conference's spot in the upcoming NCAA Division III Playoffs. The victory gives the Presidents their conference-leading 28th PAC title.

In a battle between two of the top quarterbacks in the PAC, Kellan Stahl (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) shined with a career-high six touchdown passes and 384 passing yards. Stahl completed 20-of-27 attempts in a statement effort. Geneva had no answer for the receiving tandem of Jacob Macosko (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and John Peduzzi (Hilton Head, S.C./Hilton Head Christian Academy). Macosko hauled in eight catches for 165 yards and three touchdowns. Peduzzi recorded eight receptions for 163 yards and three touchdowns.

The Presidents defense quieted the vaunted Golden Tornadoes offense throughout the day. W&J registered seven sacks and picked off Geneva three times in limiting the GT's offense to a season-low seven points. Additionally, the Golden Tornadoes were held to negative 21 yards rushing.

Sam Coleman (Steubenville, Ohio/Indian Creek) intercepted a pair of passes and Rudy Morris (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley) picked off a pass on the opening possession of the game. Coleman and Morris finished with six tackles apiece. Tyler Primrose (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Catholic) finished the day with three sacks, three tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry. Jalen Broxie (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon) turned in a team-best seven tackles.  

W&J used a dominant opening 30 minutes of play to build a 28-0 halftime lead over the Golden Tornadoes. The Presidents took advantage of a short field and opened the scoring late with a 10-yard rushing score by Kobe Derosa (New Castle, Pa./Laurel).

W&J dominated the middle two quarters. The Presidents scored three touchdowns apiece in the second and third quarters. Stahl tossed a 34-yard touchdown strike to Macosko at the 8:14 mark in the second quarter. Less than four minutes later, Stahl connected with Peduzzi for a 33-yard touchdown with 4:40 remaining in the half. In the waning seconds of the quarter, Stahl and Peduzzi connected on an 11-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 28-0 at halftime.

Stahl continued his dominance in the third quarter. The senior signal caller hit Macosko for a 38-yard touchdown at the 13:28 mark and then hit Peduzzi for a 27-yard scoring strike less than a minute later. The quick strike offense extended the lead to 49-0 when Stahl tossed his sixth touchdown of the game, a 43-yard pass to Macosko with 11:10 remaining in the third. Geneva picked up its lone touchdown of the game, a 65-yard scoring strike at the 9:52 mark of the third.

W&J outpaced Geneva in terms of total yardage by an 503-267 margin.

The Red and Black concludes the regular season with a home game versus Thiel on Saturday (Nov. 15). The Presidents can secure the league title outright with a victory over the Tomcats. The Senior Day contest is scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
