The first pitch of the outing met the bat of LaDuca for a first-pitch home run over the left field fence to go up, 1-0. The Corsairs answered in the bottom of the first with a run of their own to knot the score at one.
W&J found the scoreboard yet again to break the stalemate in the top of the third with two additional runs to push the lead to 3-1. Hernjak scored on a sacrifice fly by
Brian Feldman (Gibsonia, Pa./Eden Christian Academy) while a steal by Garth led LaDuca to advance home from third.
In the top of the fourth, the Presidents added additional runs as the offense kept producing. After a triple from Meier, a ground out scored the W&J third baseman. A Hernjak single scored
Josh Dezenzo (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington) from third after he advanced to second on a passed ball. A LaDuca double and Garth sacrifice fly scored Hernjak to elevate to a 6-1 lead in favor of W&J.
