HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Gordon.
After a convincing victory of Salve Regina a day ago, the Presidents now drop to 2-6 in nonconference action.
W&J opened the day with a winless effort in the doubles matches, granting Gordon the first team point of the match. Both No. 1 and 2 doubles dropped 6-1 matches while No. 2 doubles lost 6-2.
Nate Clarke (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) and
Alex Duing (South Park, Pa./South Park) put up a valiant effort at No. 2 doubles.
Down 1-0 heading into the singles matches, the Presidents fell yet again in all six matches.
Abhinav Yarramaneni (Mountain View, Calif./Los Altos) played one of W&J's most competitive matches at No. 3 singles, falling 7-5 in the first set and 6-1 in the final set.
Aarav Surapaneni (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon Area) also took the final game to 7-5 of his match at No. 6 singles with some late fight. Surapaneni ultimately fell 6-0, 7-5.
The Presidents return to the Van Der Meer Tennis Center in Hilton Head, S.C. for their final matches of their Spring Break Trip against the Marietta Club team. First serve is scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. start.
