Women’s Water Polo Falls to Defending Champions Augustana in the CWPA Championship

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Washington & Jefferson College women's water polo team (14-7, 6-2) fell to Augustana (15-8, 5-3) 10-7 in the 2025 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship game at the Anne Greve Lund Natatorium in Rock Island, Ill.

Emma Halle (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and Laura Anthony (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) led the offense against the Vikings with two goals each. Anastacia Didovich (Venice, Fla./Venice), Emmie Ratcliff (Friendswood, Texas/Friendswood) and Hallie Ratcliff (Friendswood, Texas/Friendswood) all produced a goal each for the Presidents. E. Ratcliff, Anthony and H. Ratcliff all tallied an assist each for the Red & Black.

Augustana outscored W&J in the first quarter to take a 3-2 lead. Halle and Anthony netted the two goals for the Presidents, respectively.

W&J matched the Vikings in the second quarter with goals by Didovich and Halle to keep the deficit at one heading into the second half, 5-4.

Augustana put up three in the third, broadening their advantage to three points as W&J's lone goal of the quarter was scored by H. Ratcliff with 2:12 left until the final quarter.

Goals by E. Ratcliff and Anthony equaled the Vikings once again in the final quarter of play as each team produced two goals. W&J ultimately fell to the defending champion Augustana 10-7 in the title matchup.

Alliey Cunningham (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) made six saves in net for the Presidents in her 25 minutes of work. Didovich goaltended the last seven minutes in relief.

The title game marks the seventh time W&J has played for the CWPA Division III crown since the inaugural championship in 2010.

For their efforts throughout the tournament, Halle was named All-Tournament Most Valuable Player, E. Ratcliff was named Rookie of the Tournament and Nikola Malezanov was named Coach of the Tournament. Halle And E. Ratcliff were also named to First Team All-Tournament and Alliey Cunningham (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) and Sydney Neumann (Long Beach, Calif./Millikan) were selected to the Second Team All-Tournament team.

W&J will await notice of the eight-team field heading to Indianapolis, Ind. for the 2025 NCAA Women's Water Polo Tournament. The field will be announced on Monday (April 28).
