WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson women's tennis team (5-1, 2-1) returned to winning ways with a 7-0 win against the Thiel Tomcats (0-5, 0-4).
The Presidents regrouped on their return to the Janet Swanson Tennis Center. The No. 1doubles team of junior captain
Claire Loomis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and freshman
Keiran Moorhead (Canonsburg, Pa./Peters Township), along with the freshman duo of
Bella Graham (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) and
Maya Hamade (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) at No. 2 doubles, both won their matches 6-0 to give the Presidents the doubles point.
This momentum carried into singles. Loomis won 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles position. Graham won 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 2 position. The remaining points were 6-0, 6-0 wins by Moorhead, Hamade, and sophomore
Paisley Cole (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) at the No. 3 through No. 5 positions.
The Presidents host the Westminster Titans on Wednesday (Sept. 24). Doubles will begin from the Janet Swanson Tennis Center at 4:00 p.m. and singles matches will follow thereafter.
