HILTON HEAD, S. C. – The Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team (11-6) continued its spring break trip in South Carolina, dropping a 7-0 contest to the Rhodes Lynx (5-1) in their first meeting in program history.
 
The women opened the contest by losing the first team point in doubles, 1-0. All doubles teams were downed 6-1 in backwards order.
 
W&J was also swept in the singles matches that followed doubles, 7-0. Claire Loomis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and Bella Graham (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) each took two games in their first sets before being downed 6-0 in their second sets at No. 1 and 2 singles. Austyn Paugh (Jane Lew, W.Va./Notre Dame) also took game wins at No. 6 singles ultimately falling 6-1, 6-2.
 
The Presidents return to action in Hilton Head on Thursday (March 12) to face the Penn State Behrend Lions. The match is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start at the Spring Lake Racquet Club.
