WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's tennis team (5-11, 4-4) dropped its regular season finale to the reigning Presidents' Athletic Conference Champions, the Allegheny Gators (15-7, 8-0) 7-0.
The Presidents dropped the first team point of the morning through doubles play, 1-0.
Jackson Akers (Logan, W. Va./Logan) and
Colby Peters (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) picked up a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles. W&J ultimately dropped No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by a 6-1 score.
W&J battled in singles play but were shutout en route to the 7-0 loss. Akers competed in the Presidents' best singles match. The senior lost in two sets, 6-2, 6-3.
Jacob Bennett (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central),
Nate Clarke (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) and Peters all competed in their individual matches and avoided shutouts.
The Presidents now await their matchup for the PAC Tournament, scheduled to commence on Tuesday (April 21).
